Why moonwalk when you can moonbike?

moon bikeThe world’s first electric snowbike, will be at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January for the second year in a row.

The French company remains the only snow mobility product on the market, launching a new snow mobility product in the US in 2021.

From knee height, MoonBike looks like any other bike. It has a seat, handlebars, front forks and grippable brakes. The bottom half is what sets it apart. The MoonBike has skis instead of front wheels and a tank-like tread instead of rear wheels.

Of course, the Moonbike isn’t the only vehicle specifically designed for traversing high mountains. In that field, snowmobiles were the first vehicle that came to mind.

However, MoonBikes have distinct advantages. It’s about 1/3 the size. And they’re small, but they’re powerful — the manufacturer advertises them as having motorcycle-level power in an e-bike-sized package.

A few added bonuses: MoonBikes are zero-emission, completely silent, and easy to charge, transport and store. They’re also a lot of fun to ride, the company adds.

MoonBikes are certainly consumer-marketed electronics, but Las Vegas’ desert climate isn’t the ideal place for passers-by to get the full MoonBike experience.

That’s why the company has developed something special for its second trip to CES. It’s an interactive virtual reality experience.

According to the company, the exhibit will allow CES attendees to “experience the joy, fun and solitude of riding a MoonBike,” possibly without wearing a jacket or ski mask.

MoonBikes was founded in 2018. Nicolas Myrona former aeronautical engineer at Dassault.

Inspired by a love of the mountains and a deep interest in technology and sustainability, the young entrepreneur believed there was a real need for alternative mobility, and the world’s first snowbike was born.

MoonBikes raised $650,000 in pre-seed funding from business angels in 2020, partnering with Michelin and Bosch to build the first two batches of MoonBikes in France, ensuring quality and safety.

The French-based company opened a subsidiary, Boulder, in September. A month later, he completed his seed round of $5 million.

MoonBikes are sold in 20 countries, including the United States and Canada, and 10 US cities. Prices start at $8,900 and are available for purchase. on the company’s website.
