If you’re heading to Michigan for the weekend or week of Independence Day, check out the construction list.
To ease traffic delays, MDOT plans to remove lane restrictions on about 60 percent of road and bridge projects statewide.
More than 1.7 million Michigan residents are expected to travel more than 50 miles from their homes over Independence Day weekend, according to AAA Michigan, a new record.
Starting at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 30 and continuing until 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, lane restrictions will be lifted for 99 of the 175 projects statewide. Although driving is halted in most of his MDOT work zones for the weekend, drivers are advised that equipment and certain traffic configurations may be maintained, including temporary shifts and curbside closures.
MDOT oversees the I, M, and US routes and is responsible for approximately 10,000 miles of state highways that carry more than 50% of all Michigan traffic and about 70% of commercial traffic.
Below is a list of work zones that will remain active or have lane restrictions during Independence Day weekend.
