In the podcast’s audio-only clip, the conversation points to Ice Spice, who Healy once slipped into the DM (though after a few digressions, he says, “I lost my cool with it.”) ). But when he brings up Ice Spice, the conversation turns to speculation about Ice Spice’s ethnicity. Friedland and Mullen appear to be doing most of the conversation, but they laugh at the conversation.
“She’s like an Inuit Spice Girl,” says one. “This chubby Chinese woman. ‘Yeah, I rap and [make] music. ‘ Do they talk like that? Do Inuit speak like that? “
After trying to guess what an Inuit person would sound like and mentioning two other ethnicities as potential comparisons, they imitated Chinese and Hawaiian accents and laughed while it was being done. One person also suggested that Healy should have slipped into Ice Spice’s DM, asking her about her ethnicity while using slurs for an Inuit person.
“Yeah, that’s what Ice Spice is like,” Healy said, before stuttering.
At the time, Ice Spice’s apparent dismissal didn’t go entirely unnoticed. Shortly after the episode dropped, Yungblud criticized how Healy, Friedland, and Mullen handled Ice Spice.
“I love hearing three privileged white men sit down and objectify a young black female artist on the rise.” he wrote“Welcome to the 30s…”
Healy later mocked Yungblud in an “apology” video on Instagram Stories. The video is black and white with a filter with the word “EMO” under the eyes.
But while the clip has already gone viral on TikTok, it took another step after being shared on Twitter earlier this week.
The anger was directed at Healy, who had previously been criticized for his Islamophobic rant, give a nazi salute A new beginning on stage.
