Sure, it’s hot in Los Angeles over the long holiday weekend and it’s expected to get even hotter, but if you’re thinking of heading to your local beach to cool off, you might want to think again.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued Saltwater warnings have been issued for about a dozen beaches and several piers. Due to high bacteria alerts, people are advised to avoid swimming, surfing and saltwater wading at monitored beaches.

Contact with water can increase bacteria levels and make you sick, even sitting on the beach is no problem.

Beaches under water quality advisories include Zuma Beach, Paradise Cove, Escondido State Beach, Malibu Pier, Santa Monica Pier area, Las Flores, Topanga Canyon, Will Rogers State Beach and Mother’s Beach.

A full list of affected beaches including Long Beach, Orange County and San Diego County. You can see from here.
