Lily-Rose Depp Plays ‘Awkward, Bad Pop Girl’ on ‘Euphoria’ Creator’s ‘Idol’

HBO has announced a premiere date for its new series Idol and released a teaser trailer.

The trailer features Lily-Rose Depp and Abel Tesfaye. Depp plays Jocelyn, a young woman who dreams of fame and power, and teams up with Tesfaye’s character as an obsessed cult leader, portrayed by “The Weeknd” named Tedros.

Idol The trailer plays Britney Spears’ “Gimme More” in the background, setting the show’s wild, psychotic tone, alluding to the rise of “a really fashionable and nasty pop girl.”

The show generated a lot of hype ahead of its trailer due to production issues and reports of a change of director. The Rolling Stone even reported that the production of “The Idol” was “rough and disgustingly derailed”. Despite this, HBO and Depp have denied any issues with the show.
