LAKELAND — Traffic will be detoured around certain roads as Lakeland contractors work on much-needed road repairs and resurfacing.
Drivers can avoid traffic jams by being aware of the city’s upcoming road projects. Expect delays. Vehicle traffic will be restricted during daylight hours when contractors are working. Traffic control signs and flag bearers will be in place to assist motorists, the city said in a statement.
easton street
Starting Monday, city contractors will begin work on Easton Drive from one block east of Cambridge Street to Fairmont Street. While construction is taking place, all through traffic will be diverted to Lake Hollingsworth Drive and one lane will remain open for residents to access their homes. Depending on your destination, Edgewood Drive may be another alternative route. City spokesman Kevin Cook said the road work is to address recurring drainage issues that cause brick streets to wash away during heavy rains. It is expected to take up to 4 weeks.
