Maze designers Daniel Miller and Gus Krueger talk about what fans of the iconic Halloween event can expect as they celebrate 50 years of terror.
io9: I’m really looking forward to the event. This year is our 50th anniversary, so we need to know what that means for new mazes like: cinema slasher and The Chilling Chambers.
Daniel Miller: co-designed cinema slasher with John Cook dark ride Designer – This replaces it. We all love horror movies and love them with a passion. We’ve been wanting to come up with this theater since last year when it opened. So this owner knew it was haunted and he knew he would bring all the fans. io9: How much of each movie’s story is revealed before guests enter the maze? Will there be footage from fake movies as well?
mirror: Oh, sure, each little movie theater actually has a clip, and when you watch it, you enter it and experience that room. It’s really cool, isn’t it? And the ticket clerk will also take you to the front. It also explains what you are trying to do, So you can get a hint of the different vibes in each of these classic slasher movies with what you’re just watching.
io9: Can you tell us more about how the interactive lanterns will be utilized in Scary Farm and how it will enhance the immersion of the event? Does it need to actively seek out affected spots, or is it often automatically triggered while walking around?
Gus Kruger: Look no further when entering the field. Some things only trigger while on the boundaries of that field. Some of them will say:Hey keep it going for 5 minutes minute”—or whatever.
