On Wednesday afternoon, Vice President Kamala Harris publicly conceded to President-elect Donald Trump after losing the 2024 presidential election to him.
Harris gave a concession speech at her alma mater, Howard University, in Washington, DC.
She said: “Let me say this: My heart is full today. I am filled with gratitude for the trust you have placed in me, and I am filled with love and commitment for our country.” The outcome of this election is not what we wanted. Not what we fought for or what we voted for, but hear me out, we will never give up. As long as we continue to fight, the light of America’s promise will always burn bright.”
“Look, I’m very proud of the race that we ran and the way we ran it,” Kamara added. “Through this 107-day campaign, we are intentionally working to build communities and build coalitions, bringing together people from all walks of life and backgrounds, united in love, enthusiasm, and joy for our country and building the future of America.” I have been fighting for.”
Although he lost, he stressed, “We must accept the results of this election.”
Harris emphasized the fundamentals of American democracy, saying, “Even if we lose the election, we will accept the results.”
“I will not concede the fight that inspired this campaign – the fight for freedom, opportunity, fairness, and dignity for all people…the fight to defend the ideals that reflect America at its best,” Harris said. “That’s my fight.” I’ll never give up. ”

Harris concluded her speech by encouraging people to have hope for the future. Before her speech, Harris reportedly called Trump to congratulate him on his victory.

Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Chan acknowledged the call in a statement, saying, “President Trump recognized Vice President Harris’ strength, professionalism, and tenacity during the campaign, and the two leaders agreed that she was important to unifying the country.” We agreed on sex,” he added.
