Justin Timberlake spoke to fans for the first time since his arrest on suspicion of drunk driving earlier this week.

According to Sag Harbor Police, Timberlake was detained by police just before 1 a.m. Tuesday in the village of Sag Harbor on Long Island, New York, after his BMW ran a stop sign and failed to maintain its lane.

According to court documents, officers said at the time of the arrest that the singer’s eyes were “bloodshot and hollow,” he was “slow to speak” and there was a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” on his breath.

Timberlake refused a breath test and “resulted in poor results on all standard field sobriety tests,” police said.

“We look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake regarding these allegations,” the singer’s lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., said in a statement to HuffPost.

“He’ll have a lot to say at the right time,” Burke said.

Timberlake is scheduled to return to Chicago’s United Center on Saturday for another show on his world tour.

His next shows are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
