But changing the powertrain from an internal combustion engine to an electric vehicle isn’t the only change Jeep has in store for the Wagoneer S. Next up after Wagoneer S is Recon EV. According to Car and Driver, Jeep has scheduled a production start date for his Recon EV in the third quarter, with sales starting at the end of this year. Jeep plans to build the Wagoneer S and Recon EV on parent company Stellantis’ STLA large platform, according to Car and Driver. This is not surprising given the versatility of the STLA Large platform, which can accommodate hybrid, internal combustion, and electric powertrains, as well as rear-wheel, front-wheel, and all-wheel drive configurations.
