David Won in the Nationals vs Dodgers series game. The Nats won a 6-4 victory over the billion-dollar Dodgers. It was a rough performance and there were many different heroes.
When Mackenzie Gore took the mound, he understood the challenge before him. In the end, our young left-handed ace was delivered and attacked seven times in six innings of two run-balls. The only man who would give him trouble in the Dodgers lineup was the King of Kings himself, Shohei Ohtani.
Just like they do with Corbin Burns, the Nationals may make Dustin work very hard early in the game. They eventually drew two walks scoreless first before breaking through the second.
NATS took advantage of the characteristically poor Dodgers defense to get two early leads. LA made two errors in the innings, but I think the scorer needs to change the error call to a hit on Dillankrue play. The crew slammed a rocket on Mookie Betts, which was by no means an easy play.
However, at the third top, the Dodgers bent their muscles. After Mackenzie Gore got two quick outs, he gave up a bloop hit to nine batters. Then he threw an a Meatballs To shohei ohtani. It happened as you would expect, and the game was tied up.
However, this NATS team never stopped. They put together a solid inning that was concluded with a Nathaniel Lowe RBI base hit.
After that, both pitchers settled down and I was really impressed. Dustin May had gotten a ton of quick-outs, but Mackenzie Gore had him there. That was a tenuous 3-2 lead for NATS.
NAT had to get some insurance and did it seventh. Amed Rosario pinched a knock to start the inning. After two batters, leadoff man James Wood hit one of Field Homer’s opposite signatures to make it a 5-2 ball game.
Alex Cole continued the rally with doubles with great stuff in the bat. Lewis Garcia Jr. chose, but Cole was abandoned at home. However, Kabert Lewis saved a day with two doubles to make it 6-2.
If you thought the Dodgers would descend without an eighth fight, you would be grossly wrong. After some solid outings, the Dodgers went to Lucas Sims and used the leadoff walk.
With only one Sims got, Davy Martinez turned to Kyle Finnegan and saved five outs despite this being his third year in a row. Finnegan put together some truly heroic performances and saved part 5.
It wasn’t easy, the Dodgers got closer, but KF finished his job. After fleeing the eighth, he gave up a leadoff double to Max Mancey on the 9th. After getting two outs he wisely pitched around Otani and reached Mookie Betts. Finnegan won a huge ground ball to beat the powerful Dodgers.
This was a very brave victory by Natt, the best they’ve seen all season. I had a lot of fun watching this game. I hope there are a lot of games like this and lots of games that are less stressful too!
