James Tupper has opened up about the loss of Anne Heche.
James recently shared people magazine How he and Heshe’s 13-year-old son Atlas have been coping after the tragic car crash that claimed the actress’ life in August 2022.
“We take care of each other and take each day very seriously,” Tupper told people at the MS Gala elimination race on Friday. “We have a lot of great support and family all around us but it doesn’t help. We still miss her, miss her every day, love her.”
“I’d say I’m doing well, but it’s been a very, very difficult time. It’s been a very big transition and spending time with my son and taking care of him, that’s basically what I’m doing.” It was the focus of everything,” James said.
“It’s always very hard to lose a parent like this. The whole world is turned inside out and I think children experience trauma differently than adults do. Adults have a context to express it.” But the child doesn’t have it, he wants to bury it, forget it and let it pass,” he explained.

James went on to say that having lost a parent at a young age, he could sympathize with his son’s feelings.
“I also lost my mother when I was very young, so I kind of understand what he’s going through.”

James added that his grief “was coming in waves” and told the magazine that there were moments when he was “too upset” and had to pull over while driving.
“The shock that she’s gone is someone you really loved and knew really well… [It’s] It’s impossible to bounce back quickly,” James said.
As for how James and Atlas are coping with the disappointment, James said, “Atlas started playing tennis, so he’s been playing two to three hours a day. Told. He also said that Atlas “has some really good friends.”
“So carefully balancing these things is how we get through grief.”
Ann was legally declared dead on August 11, 2022, after being in a coma for nearly a week after the car accident. Ann kept her on life support until Aug. 14 until a recipient was identified so that the organs could be donated according to her wishes.
