Jacksonville. Florida — Updated at 6:30am Breeze Airways told Action News Jax that the new flight number is #8717. It is scheduled to depart Jacksonville at 11:30 a.m. and arrive in Providence, Rhode Island, at 3:30 p.m.

The FBI is investigating after a flight from Orlando was diverted to Jacksonville on Tuesday in what authorities called an “in-flight accident.”

Action News Jax Ben Ryan spoke with two passengers on the plane who said someone had talked about the bomb while they were sitting. The flight landed after flying for approximately 45 minutes.

Passengers claim their flight was changed and canceled until Wednesday due to the bomb threat.

The FBI is investigating the incident but said there is no reason to believe the threat was credible. They wanted to ensure the safety of their passengers.

A handcuffed man who a passenger said was the reason the Providence-bound plane made an emergency landing in Jacksonville can be heard on video apologizing.

The FBI said the reason for the plane’s diversion was “an incident on board.”

Rachel Corrigan, a passenger on the plane, said there had been a bomb threat and that a fight of some kind started between the two before boarding and continued until just before takeoff.

“He said he would tell people there was a bomb in his bag and she said he would tell people he had a weapon.”

The incident occurred on Breeze Airways Flight 717, bound for Providence after departing from Orlando.

Video from a passenger showed a man and woman being taken off the plane in handcuffs up close.

A second video showed the man leaving the venue to applause.

According to passengers, two people have been arrested, but Action News Jax is investigating who they are and what charges they may face.

“We were sitting there without answers or direction and now we’re stuck here,” one passenger said. “We can book our own hotel here, get a refund and fly out tomorrow.”

Breeze Airways sent us a statement saying it is cooperating with local authorities. “Safety is our top priority and we will share more information as it becomes available.”

Passengers said they received a refund to book a hotel for the night, with the flight departing tomorrow.
