At the beginning of the clip. The Pompa records having a large drawer filled with spoons, knives and forks. According to him, all items are made from 18/0 stage stainless steel. “What is the only silverware I buy? 18/0 stainless steel. Why? What is 18? What is 0?” he says.
Next, he explains what these numbers mean. The first number is the amount of chromium present in the cutlery, and the second is nickel.
Pompa said: “18 is the chromium part, 18% chromium. If it’s 18/10, it’s 10% nickel. So I’ll buy it with 18/0 as 0% nickel.”
At this point in the video, he shares why he is stubborn about purchasing stainless steel cutlery with nickel content.
“Why? Because nickel is toxic,” he shares. “Yes, it’s the more silverware you use, and more and more come out, and it adds to our gut.”
Furthermore, Pompa explains that people may be inadvertently self-inflammatory in themselves. That’s because they may not know they are allergic to nickel.
“Many people are allergic to nickel. They unconsciously eat silverware,” he insists. “Look, we all want 18/0 whether we’re allergic or not. Some people are reacting without us knowing.”
Is nickel in cutlery that bad?

One Tiktok user of the app joked that there was no need to worry about stainless steel cookware. That’s because they eat food without using dishes.
“I use tortillas to grab food from the plate,” they wrote.
Someone else wondered why tools that are not made of silver were still called silverware.
Another expressed concern about everything in the year that didn’t take into account the information that Pompa relayed. “Oh, my God has been having silverware for years from where I probably know from. This is mentally exhausting,” they said.
The app had one Tiktoker who offered an alternative. They asked, “What about wood spoons and a clean porcelain spoon?”
