Jerry Seinfeld and his wife Jessica spoke to Extra after being honored at the 10th Annual Greenwich International Film Festival (GIFF) Changemaker Gala in support of the Manhattan Children’s Museum Family Connections Program.
They talked about how special it is to be able to give back, and Jessica said, “We just try to model good behavior and model what we think is important in the world so that our kids can I hope you understand that.”
Jerry added, “I think they’re absorbing that. In small actions, they realize what’s generous in this, what’s beneficial in this, to be a selfish person in the world.” It shows that you are aware that you should not.”
Jerry and Jessica also talked about their recent burglary and how they’re coping.
The “Seinfeld” alum said: “The most important thing is that we have coffee together every morning. I make coffee, I have two little cups, and we meet and spend time together. It gives us a sense of family and togetherness. It’s one of my favorite parts of the day.”
Jessica said she also has a routine with her kids, saying, “Another thing we do is FaceTime with the kids during dinner, so we don’t put our phones on anything on the table.” The kids will be talking to us on the phone while we prop it up and eat dinner. So we’re still in a new phase of empty nesting.”
She added: “I think maybe by next year we’ll be normal… It’s a real transition period.”
The couple has a big milestone of their own coming up! Jessica said, “We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary on December 25th of this year. We’re celebrating our 25th anniversary together.”

When asked about his greatest accomplishment, Jerry said: In love and child-rearing. Nothing compares to having a family that is still close and together. ”
Jessica says, “I definitely agree, and I think we’re going to raise very down-to-earth kids who work really hard. All three of our kids have the strongest work ethics. And in this very privileged world that we’re raising our kids in, we didn’t grow up like that…and New York City and, you know, they have this. Even though they’re as successful as they are, you know, they’re around, they’ve been nurtured, I think.
What’s their secret to staying grounded? Jerry explained, “There’s a line I heard once about success in show business: ‘It’s perfume.'” Smell it, don’t drink it. ‘And I’ve lived my life according to the philosophy of ‘don’t take yourself too seriously and try to live as regularly as possible.’ ”
