The Middle East war against terrorism in two years has overlooked the security issues in their own backyard, at least according to Rick Crawford, R-Ark of the House’s new intelligence news chair.
“We were very focused on the Earth’s war against terrorism, and that was done opens opportunities to countries like China,” an Arkansas Republican told a small group of reporters, prioritizing the committee.
“But even after going back to China, obviously, the Russians were very aggressive in the hemisphere, especially in the countries such as Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela,” Crawford added.
“They took every opportunity to carve out a niche of influence in our local area in our backyard.”

Since President Donald Trump took office, his administration has pushed a new Monroe doctrine-like focus. In particular, Trump is calling on the US to reclaim the Panama Canal from China.
The call was answered in a US-based BlackRock contract, taking over two ports from Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison to the canal. Currently, Chinese authorities are threatening to block the transaction.
As China increasingly threatens its Indo-Pacific allies, Crawford believes that the US can win war with the Chinese if necessary. “But we don’t have much time. We can’t sit down and reflect on the situation much more.”
China and Russia are actively testing offensive capabilities in space, Pentagon officials said Chinese watchers have warned that CCP is ahead of the United States in its rapidly expanding shipbuilding capabilities, hypersonics, anti-ship ballistic missiles, cyber and its nuclear weapons.
Crawford said the US may need to rethink its focus from a heavily leaning towards cybersecurity focus on those that take into account aggressive attacks.

Crawford’s predecessor, former chairman Mike Turner, fired an ominous public warning calling for President Joe Biden to declassify information about threats that were later reported as Russia’s anti-hygiene capabilities. The warning and the public it sparked were later considered in the decision by Mike Johnson’s decision to replace Turner as director of the committee in January, a source familiar with the situation told Fox News Digital.
Crawford’s views have come closer to Trump’s views than Turner’s.
Crawford was asked if he shared Turner’s concerns.
“The reason they outweigh their weight is that they have GDP for the size of Spain. It’s not that they’re a huge economy, they’re willing to do that they’re not another country, they want to be warlike. They are willing to break into their neighbors, and that’s the problem. ”

This is a different message than what Trump expects to hear from Republicans with whom he has allied, as he seeks to negotiate a peace between President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Voldimir Zelensky.
“[Russia’s] The willingness to do things that most civilized countries don’t put them in a unique category, Crawford said. But like Reagan said, you know, I trust you, but please check. ”
Crawford also said the intelligence news community. [IC] A “culture retool” was needed to address the issue of recruitment and retention. He called IC’s handling of Havana syndrome a “face slap” on the patient.
Havana syndrome, also known as Havana syndrome (also known as Abnormal Health Accidents (AHI), may not be the job of foreign enemies, did not think it “significantly missed the mark.”
“If the workforce is not considering the 7th floor, and there are problems with hiring and retention [where leadership sits] There’s their back, that’s a real problem for national security. ”
Crawford continues: “If The integrity or lack of analysis drives it, that is something we must pay close attention to. And we will be strictly surveillance. ”
In December, Crawford’s CIA subcommittee published a report finding that foreign enemies may have been behind many unusual health incidents and that the evaluation of the IC was “developed in a way that contradicts the integrity and thoroughness of the analysis.”

Crawford added that the US needs to get closer to its ties with Guatemala.
“Guatemala is probably our best ally in the hemisphere,” he said. “They want to be partners. There are others who we see some great opportunities. Guyana and Suriname are like beneficiaries of some of the huge mineral wealth that have developed over the past four or five years.”

The US, which is not aware of Maduro’s administration, removed a loophole in Venezuela’s oil sanctions in January, threatening to increase its financial penalties if Maduro doesn’t accept exiled migrants.

For US Northern neighbors, Crawford believes the current dispute over tariffs with Canada suggests that the 51st US state will be quiet due to a key national security partnership.
“There’s a little family nausea here,” Crawford said. “But you know, Canada is an important ally.”
