Kuala Lumpur: According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the 2023 revised budget highlights high food import bills and food security issues.

It also focuses on efforts to strengthen the role of large companies as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMIs) in the country, he said.

“They (large companies and SMIs) need to be given the opportunity to focus and explore new technologies and digitalization so that they can be more competitive and create more job opportunities.” Malaysia (ACCCIM) Chinese New Year Open House will be held here today.

It was attended by DAP Executive Director Anthony Lorke Shu Phuc and ACCCIM President Tan Sri Lo Kian Chuan.

In detail, Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said the government would also look at environmental issues and the possibility of introducing clearer and fresher economic policies that would benefit all.

“The current situation post-COVID-19, the economic downturn in Europe and the impact of the war in Ukraine and Russia calls for greater boldness in introducing policies that benefit us all. ” he said.

Meanwhile, the prime minister said all proposals from stakeholders, including ACCCIM, would be considered before submitting the revised budget.

“The memorandum we received from ACCCIM alone was pretty thick and raised a lot of issues, but it really helped us. will be dealt with,” he said.

Anwar plans to submit the budget to parliament on February 24.
