All eyes are in Boston, with Karen Reed’s second trial beginning Tuesday.
Supporters gathered at the courthouse where she told the press, “I feel good. Today was good. We prepared very hard. I’m proud of my team, so I have the truth, so we’ll move on.”
Karen is accused of attacking police boyfriend John O’Keefe with her car in 2022 during a blizzard and a heavy night of drinking. She was charged with manslaughter, a second-degree murder, while operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of the accident, but pleaded not guilty.
Karen himself has become an unlikely media sensation. After the judges at the first trial, Read’s legal team has something on the sleeve of Take 2.
The prosecution team is now run by Hank Brennan, best known for defending the infamous mob boss James “Whitey” Bulger. Brennan pushes the story of Karen admitting to hitting O’Keefe.
Her defense has shocking secret weapons… They hired a new lawyer, Victoria George, who was an alternative ju judge at Reed’s first trial. This is the first in judicial history.
The defense focuses on Chief Investigator Michael Proctor, who was fired after the initial trial for his inappropriate conduct.
“Extra” host Billy Bush spoke with Boston Herald police officer and court reporter Flint McColgan.
McColgan took his take on the first day of his current trial, saying, “I think it’s both [sides] He was particularly strong on the prosecution’s side… Brendan outlined a breaking relationship and a reactive, instantaneous killing, while the defense spoke about how she did nothing. ”

He said the defense kept repeating “no conflict.”
Flint also said, “The difference here is that Karen Reed has done many interviews since his last trial. Prosecutor Brennan actually played a clip that he speculated in that he “maybe I clipped him.” ”
McColgan said he could not speculate as to whether the trial is heading for another jury judge, but added that he “believes there is good reason for the ju judge to determine that there is reasonable doubt.”
The first trial turns Karen into a true crime megastar, and she is the subject of the documentary “A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read,” which is currently streaming the discovery and Max of the investigation.
Coach Terry Dunn-Meurer received unprecedented access to Karen and her defense team in real time as the trial unfolded.
She said “extra.” “People called [the trial] The Circus, they call it a spectacle. This case has been tested on social media. They say it’s rare for you to see people cheering on a murderous defendant on her way to trial. This case is very different as we don’t usually see it. ”
