Vice President Kamala Harris is leading former President Donald Trump in three key battleground states in the 2024 presidential election, according to three new polls released Wednesday.

The vice president and Democratic nominee leads former president and Republican standard-bearer Trump among Pennsylvania voters 51% to 45%, according to a Quinnipiac University poll, with Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver trailing by 1% each.

In Michigan, Harris holds a 50% to 45% lead over Trump, with Stein at 2% and other third-party candidates receiving less than 1%.

The poll showed a close race in Wisconsin, with Harris on 48%, Trump on 47%, Stein on 1% and each of the other candidates receiving less than 1% support.

The three polls were conducted between September 12 and 16, after the first and likely only debate between Harris and Trump. The surveys were conducted primarily before and shortly after the second assassination attempt on former President Trump on Sunday.

Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona and Nevada saw close elections that determined the outcome of the 2020 election between President Trump and President Biden.

And these seven battleground states will determine whether Harris or Trump wins the 2024 presidential election.

Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin are also three Rust Belt states that make up the Democratic Party’s so-called “Blue Wall.”

The party had reliably won all three states for 25 years, until Trump narrowly won them in the 2016 election and took the White House.

Four years later, in 2020, Biden narrowly won all three states, again giving Democrats the advantage and defeating Trump.

Both the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates and their running mates visited the three states repeatedly this summer.

Harris’ 6-point lead in Pennsylvania has expanded from a 3-point lead in an August Quinnipiac University poll.

In a hypothetical choice, Harris would beat Trump in Pennsylvania 51% to 46%, up from 50% to 47% in August.

In Michigan, the vice president leads the former president 51% to 46% in a hypothetical two-way race.

And in Wisconsin, in a hypothetical two-way race, Harris has 49% to Trump’s 48%.

The AARP poll, conducted September 11-14, found Harris’ approval rating at 48% among Wisconsin voters, while Trump’s was at 45%. The three-point difference in VP Harris’ approval rating over Trump is within the poll’s overall margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.

In addition to the battle for the White House, these three states also host Senate elections that will likely determine whether Republicans regain control of the Senate.

In Pennsylvania, Democratic Sen. Bob Casey is leading Republican challenger Dave McCormick 52% to 43%, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.

The poll shows Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin leading her Republican opponent Eric Hovde 51% to 47%.

And in Michigan, Rep. Elissa Slotkin, a Democrat, is leading Republican candidate Mike Rogers, 51% to 46%, in the race to replace retiring Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
