The war started by Hamas against Israel led to further outbreaks of anti-Semitism around the world. We see huge celebrations celebrating the murder of Israeli citizens, crowds chanting “Gas the Jews”, and even governments such as Iran celebrate this genocide in the name of Islam. I saw it there.
One place where these outbreaks are particularly noticeable is on American college campuses. There have been demonstrations and statements that these attacks were justified, that Hamas’s terrorist invasion was an “act of liberation” and that Israel was solely responsible for what happened.
This war reveals the depth of anti-Semitism in American higher education.
Thirty-one student organizations at Harvard University have released a joint statement condemning Israel and denouncing its “colonial retaliation.” Students at Columbia University argued that Israel bears the weight of responsibility for the war. Similar opinions were received from Northwestern University, Yale University, Portland State University, City College and Hunter College of New York, Boston University, and Stanford University. No doubt others will follow. Those groups say the attack was justified by the Israeli occupation, and accuse Israelis themselves of being raped, killed and taken hostage. These protests are not only anti-Israel, but often anti-Semitic.

This reminds me of a conversation I had in Israel in April of this year. I was traveling with a group of Jewish friends, most of whom were politically progressive. As we were having lunch together on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, one of them said, “Why are you so hostile to Israel when our children go to college in America?” “I don’t understand why our universities are like this.” ”
At this point in the conversation, I spoke up. I was one of the few Christians (evangelicals!) in the group. I said, “Not all universities are like that. The school I work for doesn’t have that influence on its students. Our students are largely pro-Israel!” Ta. My friend looked confused when he heard my words. They didn’t know how to handle it.
They themselves acknowledged the fact that many of our universities are hotbeds of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish bigotry. why is that?
That’s because many of these schools of thought have for decades advocated left-wing theories that lead to hatred of Israel and contempt for Jews. They use leftist, anti-colonial language to teach students that Israelis are extremists and that retaliation against their “colonial oppressors” is completely justified. They use a neo-Marxist language that divides the world into two categories: the oppressed and the oppressors. It is perfectly legitimate to “practice resistance” and target and overthrow oppressor classes. The BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement has been promoting this for some time. They have also absorbed anti-Western prejudices and see Judeo-Christian values as part of their oppression.

Educators in many schools have been teaching this for years, but some were surprised to see students actually putting it into practice this week as they celebrated the genocide.
Again, not all universities are pushing this madness. We at Colorado Christian University deplore Hamas’ terrorist activities against Israel. We stand with Israel and affirm its right to stand against jihadists, to be present in its land, to defend itself, and to pursue those who attack it. We also deplore the rise in anti-Semitism around the world, including at our universities. As a Christian university, we acknowledge God’s special covenant with Israel in the past, the Jewish people’s special place in salvation history, and our own indebtedness to them. And our hearts go out to the many Jewish and Palestinian friends whose lives have been horribly destroyed and are now caught up in this war because of Hamas’s outrageous actions.

We urge other Christian universities not to take what has happened lightly. This act of terror, the massacre of more than 1,000 people, is the largest single attack against Jews since the Holocaust. This is a time of national catastrophe for Israel and Jews around the world. Don’t be naive about the intentions behind it. Hamas (officially known as the Islamic Resistance Movement) is an Islamic extremist organization. Although the United Nations and others reject that name, it is a terrorist group. The group remains true to its original 1988 charter, which states that its fundamental goal is to destroy the state of Israel through jihad until the flag of Allah is raised in every corner of Palestine. . He condemns the peace treaty signed by Israel and calls on Muslims across the country to liberate Palestine.

We urge other Christian universities to acknowledge that this was deliberately timed and carefully planned. It took place on the 75th anniversary of the founding of Israel and the anniversary of the Yom Kippur War (October 6, 1973, when Egypt and Syria attacked Israel). We urge you not to accept the false moral equivalence claimed between Hamas terrorists and the democratic state of Israel. Hamas continues its ISIS-like rampage, brutally killing, raping, and kidnapping men, women, children, and the elderly as human shields.
Above all, let’s not get caught up in the world’s oldest hatred, “unquenchable hatred.” Instead, speak up. We condemn this barbaric attack and pray for peace in Jerusalem, Palestine, Gaza and the entire Middle East.
