Korean site report Elek Samsung claims it is not currently developing a potential Galaxy S24+ smartphone. Apparently, there is work on DM1 and DM3 projects, which will presumably become the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Ultra, respectively, but no DM2 project for the “intermediate model” (S24+) is in the works. There is an opinion that we may choose to release only two models.

There could be several reasons why Samsung decided to ditch the Galaxy S24+, but the main one is that smartphone buyers don’t seem to be particularly interested in plus-size models. The S22 series shipped 31.5 million units, but only 5.5 million (17%) were plus-size products. The S22 Ultra (45%) was the most successful, and his standard S22 also sold well (38%).

However, it’s not just the sale of Plus members for the Galaxy S series that’s upsetting Samsung. Apple also had to make up for the expected poor sales performance of the iPhone 14 Plus. Estimated shipments in this range are 94.2 million units, with the standard iPhone 14 (32%), iPhone 14 Pro (32%), and iPhone 14 Pro Max (30%) eating up Lion’s share. Only 6% of the unloved iPhone 14 Plus remain, or 5.5 million units.

Other factors, such as declining smartphone sales worldwide and higher profit margins from top-of-the-line sales, could force Samsung to drop the Galaxy S24+ from its lineup. Samsung could beat out the Galaxy S24 Ultra in his 2024 and focus mainly on making it a flagship device that will attract smartphone purists.
