This spring, Cedar Point will offer thrill-seekers the world’s tallest and fastest three-shot roller coaster.

The first ride was featured live on Local 4 News at 7 a.m. Thursday. Check it out in the video player below.

Top Thrills 2 features open-air seating with stunning views of the world’s first and only dual-tower vertical speedway. Cedar Point said of the experience:

At the start, using an all-new Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) launch system, riders race down a straight line reaching speeds of 114 miles per hour and take to the sky aboard Top Thrills 2’s original 420-foot-tall “Top Hat” I’ll run towards it. ”Tower. After experiencing zero gravity during the “rollback” (a fan-favorite moment when the train lacks enough momentum to roll over the tower), the train goes into reverse and begins its second launch, reaching speeds of 161 mph. .

Riders will see Cedar Point like never before while climbing backwards at a 90-degree angle on the new 420-foot-tall track tower. After the second weightless moment, the train switches to running mode and hurtles toward its third launch, reaching a top speed of 190 mph. As the train crosses the Top Hat Tower, it slows down for a moment, enters a 270 degree spiral, and crosses the finish line.

“Top Thrills 2 will be the boldest and most advanced roller coaster Cedar Point has ever installed. It is also one of a kind and can only be built at Cedar Point.” said Carrie Boldman, vice president and general manager. “Our reputation in the industry is for roller coaster innovation, and today we solidify that position by redefining the Strata Coaster into a mega-thrill that guests can experience from afar.”

Cedar Point’s Top Thrills 2 will debut in 2024. The park’s opening date is his May 4th.
