KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian-owned ticket sales company Etix Digital Sdn Bhd (EDSB) will invest RM5 million over the next five years to enhance the digital technology capabilities of its online event ticketing platform etix.my.

This will enable the company to effectively compete and thrive in Malaysia’s fast-growing event ticketing market and across the region.

EDSB’s digital technology is groundbreaking and will enhance Malaysia’s reputation as a destination for business and entertainment events.

This solution can generate positive multiplier effects for the national economy in terms of tourism, job creation and foreign direct investment.

Co-founder and CEO Kinnix Chan said: “The role of a ticketing agent has evolved significantly over the years, expanding beyond just printing and selling tickets to an event.

“Today’s successful ticket sellers should see themselves as strategic partners to event organizers by actively participating in marketing and promotions, providing a seamless and enriching experience for attendees, and strengthening security measures to prevent fraud and abuse,” she said in a statement.

Chan said EDSB has embedded digital technology into its etix.my operations and its processes include a robust, user-friendly online ticketing platform with the latest e-ticketing technology, on-site e-ticket management and monitoring.

We also established a dedicated PR and social media team to promote and market the event.

“We will soon introduce the etix.my marketplace, the first e-trading platform for the event ticketing industry in Malaysia, where people can buy and sell event tickets whose authenticity has been pre-verified,” Chan said.

To ensure the effectiveness and reliability of the technology deployed within its systems, EDSB is working with strategic partner Alpha Red Solutions Sdn Bhd, a home-grown company that specialises in developing booking engines and integrated payment services capable of managing large volumes of transactions.

“When it comes to large-scale, world-class events, there is little room for error, so we are prioritizing the skills and experience required to deploy technology that can effectively address the growing demand for event ticketing solutions,” Chan said.

According to Statista Market Forecast, Malaysian event ticketing market revenue is expected to reach US$103.6 million (RM484 million) in 2024, exhibiting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.33% from 2024 to 2028, with the market size expected to reach US$118.1 million (RM552 million) by 2028.

“The event ticketing market is expected to rise further as the Malaysian Tourism Year 2026 approaches.

“The ticketing company believes that by providing professional, effective and safe solutions to local and international event organisers, it can contribute to creating a favourable environment for Malaysia to host world-class events and promote the success of these events,” she added.
