Elliott Page’s friends weren’t shocked by his conversion.

The 36-year-old actor announced that he was transgender in 2020, but revealed that it wasn’t a surprise to his closest friends because he’d been talking about it for years.

He told The Guardian newspaper: “For those who are very close, it was never a shock. I was hanging out with friends the other day and they were telling me what I said when we were 27 and working together. See how much I’ve been talking about it over the years!

“It mostly came from internalized shame, internalized transphobia. I was overwhelmed by the fact that I was a famous actor, and what does that mean? was trying to wrap his head around it.

“But before I came out as queer in 2014, I had already decided that living my life was more important to me than being in movies. This is my life.’ ‘It’s a chance to be alive. It’s not worth it.’

And Paige revealed that she’s been feeling a lot of “body euphoria” since the transition.

“Honestly, I wake up in the morning feeling that way every day. When I say I’ve always been in a bad mood, I mean it. I mean, the fact that you wake up in the morning and go outside. please stretch like this on the bed [he extends his arms to their full length] – It’s body well-being for me.

“To be able to work out this morning without a shirt on and just get sweaty and showered and just be in my body and feel that joy… I didn’t expect it to feel like this. I never thought that if I didn’t, I would really feel like, “Oh, I’m here and I’m having my day.” So for me, body well-being is most obvious: getting out of the shower, looking at yourself in the mirror, walking down the street with your shoulders down, and feeling like you can relate to the world the way you do now. That’s it. “
