Eclipse Coffee Roasters Ltd. is recalling Eclipse Coffee Roasters brand Elevate Snapchill Coffee from the market because it may allow the growth of Clostridium botulinum.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the recall was triggered by recalls in other countries.

The recalled products were distributed in Alberta, Canada. The CFIA has confirmed that the industry is removing the recalled products from the market.

About botulism
If untreated, botulism can paralyze the muscles needed for breathing and lead to sudden death.

People who have consumed the recalled products According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), anyone who experiences symptoms of botulism after consuming this product should seek immediate medical attention.

“With foodborne botulism, symptoms usually begin 18 to 36 hours after eating the contaminated food. However, symptoms may begin within 6 hours to 10 days,” the CDC website states.

Symptoms of botulism include double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, stiff tongue, dry mouth, and muscle weakness. A person with botulism may not have all of these symptoms at once.

These symptoms are caused by muscle paralysis caused by the toxins. If left untreated, the disease progresses and symptoms can worsen to the point that certain muscles become paralyzed, including those used for breathing and muscles in the arms, legs, neck and pelvis.

At the time this recall was posted, there have been no reported illnesses associated with consuming this product.
