Easter is here on Sunday.It’s been at least two full months since I gave up candy after eating many bags of Valentine’s Day gummies.
Easter brings truly elite candy. Giant chocolate bunnies are obviously a staple, but the best Easter candy is in the shape of an egg. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but in March, when I rarely eat Reese’s peanut butter, I start looking for Reese’s egg-shaped candies. Cups at other times of the year.
So, following extensive research (I’ve been eating egg-shaped candies over the years), I’ve put together a non-exhaustive ranking of the best mass-produced candy eggs. I don’t know how a substance that is equal parts gritty and mellow can be called “cream”. It looks terrible.
8. Peeps decorated egg
The whole deal with Peeps is that they’re adorable little chicks that taste like sugar and nightmares. If you take the chick out of the equation, you’re left with just sugar and nightmares.
7. tossy roll egg
Tootsie Rolls didn’t need to be molded into an egg shape, a regular cylinder was fine.
6. trolley sour bright egg
Good, but not as good as classic sour gummy worms.
Five. cadbury caramel eggs
It’s clearly an improvement over the original, but it’s too loud. With too much caramel and not enough chocolate, you’ll almost certainly get the Easter outfit your mom made you wear to church.
Four. kinder egg
