WASHINGTON, D.C. – As part of an overall effort to improve quality of service, the Navy is launching the MWR Entertainment Series, offering 65 free episodes to military personnel and their families at Naval installations around the world from May to June 2024. We will hold an event.
“Work-life balance and community camaraderie are essential to the health and readiness of Sailors and their families,” said Leslie Gould, Director of Fleet and Family Readiness for the Commander, Naval Installations Command (CNIC). “We hope these events not only provide a fun recreational space, but also an opportunity to bring friends and family together and strengthen personal bonds across the Navy community.”
Entertainment varies by location and may include concerts, comedy performances, interactive murder mystery dinners, and more. Examples of headlining musicians include Andy Grammer, Dierks Bentley, Eli Young Band, Goo Goo Dolls, Ludacris, All His American Rejects, and Switchfoot.
Operation MWR events are open to all MWR eligible patrons, are free to attend, and in most cases do not require pre-registration. However, space may be limited depending on the venue, and admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Military members and their families can find information about events at installations near them by visiting navymwr.org/operationmwr or by contacting their local Navy MWR office.
“Service members also have access to other leisure and community services through the Navy MWR Office,” Gould said. “MWR offers year-round services such as travel, tours, leisure skills classes, sporting events, and discounted tickets to attractions, giving you the opportunity to recharge and connect through recreation.”
The Naval Facilities Commander is responsible for the design and development of integrated solutions for worldwide U.S. Navy shore facilities management, naval shore infrastructure maintenance and development, and quality of life programs. CNIC oversees 10 naval regions, 70 installations, and more than 43,000 employees who maintain fleets, operate fighter jets, and support families.
