In the video, TikToker said: “Give me a reason why I’m a dasher. I delivered a $318 catering order that was supposed to include a tip of $76 or nearly $77, but there was absolutely zero tip. I got $8. “
Clearly perplexed and desperate for answers, TikToker reportedly questioned a DoorDash supporter that the restaurant did not include a tip when sending orders to DoorDash. But when he called the restaurant pretending to be the customer who ordered it, he was told that the order did indeed include a tip, raising questions about where the missing funds went.
“Someone’s fucking lying. Who got my money? That shit didn’t just disappear into the air,” TikToker yelled.
In the comments section of the video, users debated who was responsible for the missing tip, with the majority saying it was the restaurant’s responsibility.
“It’s like a restaurant tip, not a delivery tip,” wrote one commenter.
“I’m sure Portillos took it from you,” added the second.
“The customer ordered from the restaurant’s website. The tip was sent to the restaurant,” agreed another commenter.
and TikTok follow up, Door Dasher revealed that they visited Portillo in person to address the missing chip issue and confirmed that the mistake was on their side. According to TikToker, he received an apology and two $50 American Express gift cards as compensation.
TikToker expressed satisfaction with how the issue was resolved, but some commenters argued that things should go further.
“Don’t leave this alone,” said one commenter. “Get a hold of the company. This was not a mistake.”
The second commenter said, “Imagine all the other tips they keep that they noticed because they left the receipt there, and Dasher doesn’t read the receipt.” I warned you. That’s all dash. ”
Another commenter shared a similar sentiment, saying, “They did the right thing in a different way after being arrested. Someone got the hint. Definitely worth looking into with the company.” .”
