The Delta Air Line is adding its 17th route from the US mainland to Hawaii this winter, linking the Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) hub with the new Hawaiian Island.
In December this year, Delta will launch a new non-stop service from SLC at Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport, located in Keahole (KOA) in Big Island.
The new flights kick off in time for the holiday season and go through winter months.
Meanwhile, Delta will also deploy larger jets and weekly flights on a small number of Hawaii routes next winter, especially during the peak of the holiday season, carriers announced Friday.

New Salt Lake City Route to Delta’s Hawaii
Delta’s latest Hawaii route will fly on December 19th, the Atlanta-based carrier said Friday.

Beyond the new SLC-KOA route, Delta is bolstering its existing Hawaii services.
This fall, the airline will win a jump start for seasonal winter services from Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Kahului Airport (OGG) in Maui. Starting November 6th, Delta will fly routes on Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
We will also add a second flight to ATL service to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) in Honolulu from December 19th to January 5th during the peak holiday season.

The carrier will also jump early on Salt Lake City flights to Maui from October 6th to be precise, and add a second daily flight during the holidays.
Finally, the Delta will trade for a larger plane and carry more passengers to the HNL via Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) hub during the winter. Between November 6th and March 28th, the carrier’s 282-seat Airbus A330-300 will be replaced by the Boeing 767-300ER, which features up to 226 seats depending on the cabin configuration.
