Get ready to see a different side of Dan Levy. The actor, who shot to fame with the crazy comedy Schitt’s Creek, channels his dramatic side in Good Grief, starring in and directing his first feature film.
Dunn and co-stars Ruth Negga and Himesh Patel spoke to Extra’s Megan Wright about the project, which explores themes of grief and friendship.
“I was going through some grief and really wondering what it meant, and I felt like this was a conversation that a lot of people might relate to,” Levy said. ” he explained.
He later added that he wrote the film as a “love letter to life’s friendships.”
Regarding starring in and directing this film, Dunn said: A lot of planning was done in advance to coordinate everyone so I didn’t have to run back behind the camera to see what was going on. ”
Himesh praised Levy’s work, saying, “Dan had a very clear vision for this. It felt very easy and felt like a really well-oiled machine.”
Megan noted, “When I watched it, I felt like I was watching people I actually knew.”
Mr. Nega revealed that Dan took him out for the weekend, and Mr. Levy said, “We played escape games together. It brought people together instantly.”
“Good Grief” will be available on Netflix starting January 5th.
