ITHACA, NY — Cornell University Professor Carmen I. Moral has received a $50,000 collaborative research grant from the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) in honor of Marcel Ronsin.

The funding will provide research funding to conduct fundamental chemistry, physics and engineering research that will be applied to food processing and food quality improvement, according to a university press release.

She will be honored at IFT First: Annual Event and Expo, taking place July 14-17 in Chicago.

Moral, a professor in the Department of Food Science, joined Cornell in 2003. Her research focuses on the physical and engineering properties of foods, food and dairy processing, and food safety engineering. Prior to joining Cornell, she was a research assistant professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Cornell CALS Alumni Association Outstanding Teaching Award, the State University of New York President’s Excellence in Teaching Award, and the International Dairy Association Dairy Production Education Award. In addition to being an IFT grantee, she is also an IFT Fellow.

Moral received his bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in food engineering from the Dunarea de Jos University in Galati, Romania.
