Former two-division world champion McGregor shared his thoughts on fantasy fights in an interview. He expressed interest in the event, but insisted it should be held under the UFC brand. However, he made it clear that McGregor is only focused on his upcoming fight with Michael Chandler and that he will not be involved in coaching Musk or Zuckerberg.
Despite his initial stance, McGregor later backtracked, saying he would work with Musk if Tesla’s CEO wanted it. He expressed excitement about the potential fight and stressed that he hopes it will actually come to fruition.
UFC President Dana White has dismissed the notion that Musk vs. Zuckerberg is just a gimmick. He stressed that the fight was unlike any other mixed martial arts fighter who turned to boxing and lost. According to White, the fight will involve two of the world’s most powerful and richest men, making it a unique and highly anticipated event.
McGregor is currently expected to face Chandler at UFC 296 on December 16, though the fight has not been officially announced. The Irish fighter’s return could be delayed until the first quarter of next year as he has not yet re-entered the USADA testing pool and completed the mandatory six-month drug test prior to his return.
