kuala lumpur: Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said Chile’s move to ratify the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement on Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) will bring great opportunities for Malaysian businesses.

The agreement will enter into force on February 21, 2023 in Chile, a country in western South America.

“Chile has ratified the CPTPP. The agreement will enter into force in Chile on February 21, 2023.

“This is a great opportunity for Malaysian businesses to take advantage of preferential tariff rates on goods imported to and exported from Chile,” he tweeted today.

CPTPP is a trade agreement between Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.

The trade agreement will enter into force in Malaysia on 29 November 2022 and its comprehensive scope covers not only traditional market access areas but also labor, environment, state enterprises, government procurement, intellectual property, e-commerce, small and medium enterprises.
