LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Huskerthon event raised thousands of dollars for Children’s Nebraska on Saturday.
Hundreds of University of Nebraska-Lincoln students gathered for an eight-hour day of fun with current and former Children’s patients.
The University of Nebraska Dance Marathon features several families holding dances, games and celebrations to raise awareness and funds for the hospital.
UNL student Luke Woosley, who attended the event, said his family has a special connection to the Huskerthon because his brother is battling cancer.
“I think we have 27 families this year or something like that, and we can make a difference in the lives of each of those children in some small way,” he said. “I think being involved in something meaningful, not only that, but having a family makes it even more fun.”
At the end of the event, the total amount raised was $83,702.24.
All proceeds will be donated to Children’s Nebraska.
