A woman wants a refund for a Chipotle bowl she already made after noticing a pest problem at the register.

A video posted by TikTok user Hakori (@iamshakori) on May 9 shows a checkout at a Chipotle store in Summersville, South Carolina. Shakori uses a finger emoji to point to the shadow underneath the card reader. “There are cockroaches,” she wrote in the text overlay.

At the end of the video, Shakori asks: “Can I get my money back?” Sorry, I don’t want that. There’s a cockroach here. ”

The video had been viewed 228,000 times as of Friday morning. Summersville viewers also voiced their opinions in the comments section.

One viewer joked: “My city doesn’t show up on my fyp.” Shakori responded, “They were calm about it too… They know they’re there!!!”

A second viewer said, “That’s why I only go to the one in Goose Creek.”

A third viewer wrote: “Not right after finishing the meal from there.”

Another viewer said, “Most fast food restaurants do that…but when you pay to see it in person, you get a different impression.”

Are pests really common in restaurants?

according to 2020 surveyMore than half of those surveyed said they had seen cockroaches inside or “around the outside” of a restaurant. “Although sighting a cockroach outside a facility is far less unpleasant than inside the facility, more than 60% of those who reported seeing a cockroach said they found it in an employee break room or kitchen. “Only 27% of respondents reported finding cockroaches outside their facility,” the report said.

At Hell’s Kitchen Las Vegas in March, a customer asked for a refund after seeing a cockroach in the gift shop. In November, a customer caught a Nobu server trying to hide cockroaches crawling around his birthday dinner. Additionally, a former Popeyes employee took revenge on his workplace by sharing a video of a cockroach in the kitchen.

On the Internet, some people ask whether it is possible to sue in this situation. The consensus on this is Legal advice forum Although it seems possible to file a lawsuit, the damages obtained in such a lawsuit are minimal. Therefore, it is unlikely that a lawyer will take your case.
