The people at Hugging Face, the masters of open source artificial intelligence, have just jumped into the world of robotics by acquiring pollen robotics. And soon they offer Reachy 2, a very interesting humanoid robot designed as a “lab partner in the AI era.”
Are you ready to dive in and see what all the topics are?
Reach 2 Humanoid Robot (Hugging her face)
What makes this humanoid robot so special?
So, what sets Regidy 2 apart? Well, first of all, it’s a cutting-edge humanoid robot that’s already making waves in labs like Cornell and Carnegie Mellon. It is designed to be friendly, friendly and appealing to natural interactions. This robot is open source and VR compatible, making it ideal for research, education and experimenting with embodied AI.
The innovative Orbita joint system gives the neck and wrists of the Reachy 2 smooth and multi-directional movement, making it extremely expressive. The Reachy 2 also features human-inspired arms.
The mobile base equipped with Omni Wheels and Lidar allows for seamless navigation, and VR teleo controls allow you to literally see the robot’s eyes! Finally, its open source nature promotes collaboration and customization, providing a wealth of resources for the facial organizations that pollen robots embrace.

Technical specifications
This humanoid robot combines cutting-edge AI interaction with advanced vision, audio and actuator systems for viewing. Let’s take a quick look at what Reghy 2 brings to the table. Standing between 4.46-5.45 feet tall, it weighs 110 pounds and features a bio-inspired arm with seven degrees of freedom that can handle payloads up to 7.6 pounds. It is also equipped with a high quality audio system, in addition to parallel torque control grippers and multiple cameras for depth perception. Navigating that environment is easy thanks to its omnidirectional mobile-based.
In terms of perception, the Reachy 2 has a vision module with dual RGB cameras and a time-of-flight module for depth measurements. There is also an RGB-D camera on the fuselage for accurate depth sensing. Immersive stereo recognition is achieved through the microphone of the reach antenna.
For interaction, the Reachy 2 has custom built speakers with high quality amplifiers and a Rode AI-Micro audio interface. Its phenotypic head is equipped with an orbita system and has an electric antenna to enhance human-robot interaction.
The operational capabilities of the Reachy 2 come from the Orbita 3D and 2D parallel mechanisms and from the dynamic-based parallel grippers that feature torque control.
The Reachy 2 is controlled by a SolidRun Bedrock V3000 unit, with AI processing being handled by external hardware. Finally, the mobile base includes an omnidirectional wheel, hall sensor, IMU, RP Lidar S2 and LifePo₄ batteries.

The face and pollen robot hugs cooperate
So, what does pollen robotics really mean by scooping up your embrace face? Well, it could indicate a great driving force to make robotics more accessible. Think about it like this. “I believe that robotics could be the next frontier unlocked by AI and should be open, affordable and private,” said Faith co-founders Thomas Wolf and Hug Faith.
Matieu Lapaire, co-founder of Pollen Robots, reflects this sentiment.
Embracing the acquisition of Face’s pollen robots represents the fifth acquisition after Gradio and Xethub. This move cements Face’s commitment to open source AI and its vision for a future where AI and robotics are accessible to everyone.
