eBay and Poshmark are online marketplaces where customers can buy and sell new and used items. As with other platforms, fraud is common. The woman reportedly caught the seller trying to inflate the price of the coat on Poshmark even though she had won it on eBay.
TikTok user McKenzie (@mckenzieraley) immediately called out both eBay and Poshmark. “This is an eBay and Poshmark thing. You all have the seller’s snake in your hands, so you feel like you’re being scammed,” she said. Next, she talked about her recent experience. One day, the content creator received a notification about a coat he had been eyeing for several weeks. After saving his money, Mackenzie made a bid and won the court. But her excitement didn’t last long.
“I immediately got a message from the seller saying, ‘Hi. I’m really sorry, but this coat was actually sold on another platform,'” she recalled. This confused content creators. “I’ve been listing and relisting for quite some time. So why not cancel my order right away?” she said.
Mackenzie then searched Poshmark and found the coat still up for sale. So she contacted the seller. “So I send the seller a screenshot and say, ‘Hey. I don’t understand. I won an auction. Are you still actively listing this on Poshmark?’ What was the seller’s response? ‘Oh. I don’t understand.’ ,” they wrote. Throughout the weekend, sellers continued to update the prices of coats on their profiles.Mackenzie was furious as a result.
“I’m furious that they’re lying to me. They’re not going to sell me this coat because they’re lying to me about having this coat. They’re taking my money.” ” she said.
Adding insult to injury, the content creator stated that the seller is not canceling orders as it would negatively impact their ratings. Despite this, Mackenzie refused to cancel the order because she wanted the coat. Additionally, she did not notify eBay because she did not want the order to be canceled. All in all, she was upset and she didn’t know what to do. “She’s very frustrated,” she said. “If you didn’t want to sell the coat for that price, you shouldn’t have listed it for that price.”

The Daily Dot reached out to McKenzie via Instagram direct message and TikTok comment, to eBay via Twitter direct message, and to Poshmark via a contact form. The video had been viewed more than 82,000 times as of Sunday afternoon. In the comments, viewers suggested possible solutions.
“You can comment under the coat on Poshmark that you bought the same coat on eBay and haven’t received it yet. Others will see that and do it,” one viewer suggested .
“I buy and sell online myself, so I understand you want a coat. But eBay, wait. Don’t cancel. Otherwise, at some point it will become a ‘scam.’ ” said the second advice.
“I buy and sell on eBay for work, and if the seller doesn’t ship the item within a certain period of time, I should open a ‘not delivered’ case,” suggested a third.
Moreover, Mackenzie wasn’t the only one to experience this.
“It’s incredible how fast more people are doing this with vintage Coach bags,” one user wrote.
“A similar thing happened with a book. I’m sure they thought it would get bids, but it didn’t and I won. It ended up being canceled a month later.” A second piece of information was also shared.
According to eBay Website, you can open a request with the seller. Please open a request and let the seller know. Most sellers are happy to work with you, but if you can’t resolve the issue or the seller doesn’t adhere to our stated return policy, you may not be eligible for the eBay Money Back Guarantee. If you haven’t received your item yet, you can find out when it will be delivered.”
