The Bucs waived running back Keshawn Vaughn, a third-round pick, on Friday afternoon. The move itself isn’t surprising, as Vaughn has spent most of the season on active duty. He is the team’s third running back and is almost overpowered. Since coming to Tampa Bay in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Defensive tackle Vita Vea was listed as in-game due to a toe injury in last week’s 29-25 win over the Falcons, and the Bucs have a roster spot on practice squad defensive tackle Deadlin Senato. vacated, but the team has not announced any corresponding moves.
Vaughn is a rarely used backup running back, essentially 53rd person on the list.
Tampa Bay has promoted Senato from the practice squad three times already this year, and Senato would need to be on the Bucs’ 53-man roster in order for him to play in Green Bay on Sunday, if needed.

Keshawn Vaughn was selected 76th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft by Vanderbilt. He appeared in 43 games with the Bucs, including one start against Philadelphia in the 2021 playoffs, carrying the ball 103 times for 384 yards and two touchdowns. Bourne also has 14 receptions for 81 yards and one touchdown in his four-year NFL career.
Vaughn played in just six games this year, recording 24 carries for 42 yards and two receptions for two yards. The last five weeks have been inactive due to the return of veteran running back Chase Edmonds. Undrafted rookie Sean Tucker is the third runner behind Edmonds and starter Rashard White.
It’s possible the Bucks sign Bourne to their practice squad. That’s because he knows Tampa Bay’s system well and could have some value if one of the backs in the Bucs’ stable is injured.
