The Bucs, Falcons and Panthers are all set to quarterbacks heading into the 2025 season, but Saints may not be all of a sudden. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Friday afternoon that New Orleans quarterback Derek Carr suffered a shoulder injury, which could threaten availability for the upcoming season.
#saints Suddenly there’s a major QB question. Starter Derek Kerr is dealing with a shoulder injury that threatens his availability this season, sources say.

Kerr is weighing his options, Rapoport said, one of which could be surgery. Currently, the Saints quarterback room includes Spencer Lattler, Jake Harner and Bendinucci. Of course, the team has been injured over the past few years, so its depth is well tested.
New Orleans holds the ninth overall pick in the 2025 draft. The team’s leadership may already be interested in quarterbacks, but this news may raise that interest. Colorado’s Chedur Sanders is a name linked to the saint and hopes that the abandonment will rise as the draft approaches.
in Two seasons with New OrleansKerr completed 68.2% of passes for 6,023 yards and 40 touchdowns from 13 interceptions in 27 games. He has a 14-13 record in that span, and the Saints failed to make the playoffs. He certainly has his detractors and some saint fans, but the four-time Pro Bowler is still the best option New Orleans has, especially considering the miserable state of the team’s roster.
If the saints score a quarterback in the first round, it represents the youth movement among rivals in the Bucs division. Carolina’s Bryce Young, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, is entering his third season in the league. Atlanta spent his first round pick at Michael Penix Jr. last year, but he is due to start this season considering trading aging veteran Kirk Cousins, who was the starter last year, after the Falcons signed free agency last year.

If Derek Kerr actually missed the time, or the entire season in 2025, it’s no different to what the Bucs dealt with when playing Saints last year. Kerr missed both meetings and Tampa Bay led then rookie Spencer Lattler to start both games.
First, Bucs wins at Super Dome 51-27Rutler finished 22-22 for 243 yards and got a touchdown for two interceptions. In an 18-week rematch in Tampa, the Bucks won again, 27-19. Rutler finished 42-26 for 240 yards and a touchdown.
Kerr played in both games with the Bucs when the two teams split two seasons ago. Both road teams won these matchups as Carr lost to 37-23 for 127 yards and threw two touchdowns on 197 yards and 24 32 passes.
