A previously unnoticed detail about the popular Australian ice cream has taken the internet by storm.
The ‘bullet hole’ in the iconic treat Bubble Ovil’s hat surprised some Australians who grew up eating the treat.
On Facebook, a Queensland man asked, “How old were you when you found out that Bubble Ovil’s hat had a bullet hole in it?”
This observation came as a complete surprise to many, some people, who had been eating ice cream for years.
“Today I probably ate 1000 in 38 years,” one person responded to a question on Facebook.
“What! Have I been eating blindfolded for the past 50 years?” said another.
Others felt cheated because the holes meant less ice cream.

Ice cream manufacturer Streets confirmed on its website that the hole was indeed a bullet.
“Bubble O’Bill is a classic blend of strawberry, chocolate and caramel popsicles with a giant bubblegum nose and a bullet hole in the cap,” the website says.
