Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has offered aid to California as Gov. Gavin Newsom battles multiple wildfires ravaging Los Angeles County this week.
“Our prayers are with everyone affected by the terrible fires in Southern California. When disaster strikes, we must come together to help our fellow citizens in any way possible. ” DeSantis posted on X on Wednesday morning.
“Florida has offered to help Californians respond to these fires and rebuild their devastated communities,” he added.
DeSantis’ offer of aid to California comes after he led the state through Hurricanes Milton and Helen just last year. The two governors have frequently sparred in recent years, particularly as Florida reopened during the pandemic and California implemented strict lockdown orders and mandates.
