A month after the deaths of Jean Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa, body cam footage from the scene was released by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office.
In the video, a law enforcement officer is at Hackman’s residence after a 911 call is received. The footage comes from several deputies walking outside the house.
In some videos, it was obtained by TMZdeputies are seen interviewing one of the workers who found the body.
The groundkeeper gets emotional as he talks about Jean and his Betsy, saying, “I’m attached to all these people, do you know? They treat me really well, she was a lover.”
In another video, the deputy talks to the same ground keeper and handyman about the possibility of a gas leak.
The handyman explains that there is a downstairs machine room with “two or three big old boilers.”
“And won’t it leak any of the kitchen appliances?” the aide asks.
The handyman replies, “We shouldn’t. I don’t know if either of these is down like this. Something is not right.”
He says, “The door was locked. The door wasn’t locked here.” He also talks about the couple that they were “super private.”
The man also says he last saw Jean and Betsy about two weeks ago.
In yet another video, aide talking on the phone with Gene’s daughter Elizabeth, talks about dealing with the remains of a dead dog in the house along with Gene and Betsy.
She says, “Um, I think I’ll cremate the dog and bury it with Betsy.” She also asks, “If the dog were wearing a collar, can I save it for me?”
It was later determined that Betsy died of hantavirus and that he died of heart disease from advanced Alzheimer’s disease, a gene that contributed to the gene.
Hackman’s family recently submitted a temporary restraining order blocking the release of images and videos showing the body.
In the filing, the family asked to seal the photos, and Jean and Betsy said “we’ve been living an exemplary private life in Santa Fe, New Mexico for over 30 years and didn’t showcase their lifestyle.”
