Despite some Iranian leaders denying to gullible Western nations any intention to build a nuclear weapon, Tehran continues unhindered in its pursuit of weapons-grade fissile material and its development of ballistic missiles that could potentially be equipped with nuclear warheads.

It’s clear to anyone paying any attention, but The Wall Street Journal reports that the Biden administration is “pressuring European allies to drop plans to condemn progress in Iran’s nuclear program” — and not just the nuclear program, but everything else that Iran does, either on its own or through its proxies, in pursuit of its avowed goal of destroying Israel and killing the Jews.

What exactly is the Administration’s motivation for urging Europe to do nothing about Iran? It doesn’t seem difficult to conclude that this may have something to do with the fall elections.

President Biden, who is losing support from traditional Democratic bases of black voters and young people, appears reluctant to make the situation worse by taking actions that would antagonize Muslim voters, particularly in Michigan, which has a large Muslim population.

All that matters is what Iran does, not what it says for Western consumption. Some Iranian leaders say that weapons of mass destruction are against the Quran, but the Quran gives Muslims permission to lie to “infidels,” by force if necessary, in pursuit of their goal of Islamic world domination.

Fereydun Abbasi, who previously served as head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, said in an article published last week by the Iran International Newsroom website: “If a country has superior air forces and threatens us, we will respond with an appropriate threat. Our enemies are well aware of our satellite launch capabilities. This capability highlights the high standards of a country that has the ability to put a satellite into a specific orbit.”

Abbasi said Iran does not believe in weapons of mass destruction, but could not allow those who possess them to “abuse their power.”

It’s an Alice in Wonderland statement, and it could mean only what Iran’s leaders want it to mean.

As many sober and realistic leaders, past and present, have said, wishful thinking leads to nothing but more terrorism and the possibility of war. History has shown that weakness almost always invites aggression, while strength deters aggression. Only a fool would believe otherwise, and the world is full of fools.

Biden, in what appears to be a cynical ploy to save his presidency for a second term, has once again shown weakness and called on European allies to do the same. If there are any recent acts of disgrace in Washington, this would rank in the top five.

According to the paper, European diplomats “have warned that failure to act would undermine the authority of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), which oversees the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.”

Last September, the Associated Press reported that “IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said the Iranian government had revoked the designation of ‘several experienced agency inspectors’ and barred them from taking part in monitoring the country’s nuclear program.”

This, along with all the other broken promises and lies about Iran’s nuclear program, should convince everyone of Iran’s intentions, but apparently not the Biden administration. Unfortunately, the politics of 2024 seem to matter more than Iran, the world’s largest promoter of terrorism, almost certainly pursuing a nuclear bomb and the missile capability to deliver it.
