President Biden may miss Ohio’s general election vote after the state’s top election official warned his campaign that it will miss a key Friday deadline.
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, a Republican, has notified Democratic leaders that the party’s national convention will be held well past the deadline for certifying presidential candidates in Ohio.
“The Democratic National Convention is scheduled to convene on August 19, 2024, the deadline to certify presidential candidates for president,” LaRose wrote to Ohio Democratic Party Chair Liz Walters, according to the letter. It will be held more than a week after August 7th.” First obtained by ABC News.
“We conclude that either the Democratic National Committee must move forward its nominating convention or the Ohio General Assembly must take action to create an exception to this statutory requirement by May 9, 2024 (90 days before the effective date of the new law). I am left alone,” LaRose’s legal counsel Paul DeSantis wrote in the letter.

News of the letter was released on the same day as an internal memo indicating panic within the Democratic Party over a “nonpartisan” voter registration effort that could help former President Trump.
