In a new Verizon ad released after Usher’s halftime show at Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, Beyoncé hilariously takes on the challenge of defeating the provider’s power with a series of increasingly surprising stunts.
“This is Verizon 5G. The network is very powerful,” the director tells her in the music video (featuring Tony Hale from “Veep”). “I’m sure you can’t break that.”
Beyoncé retorts, “I’m sure you can!”
First, she’ll be setting up a surprise lemonade stand in honor of her 2016 album “Lemonade.”
When that fails to beat Verizon, she releases a new Kenny G-style album, “Let’s Get Saxy,” featuring herself playing saxophone.
“Did you break it?” she asks eagerly. “You broke me,” she admitted as Hale cried. But no, she’s not breaking it.
Next, she tries out “Beyoncé-I,” where she perfects an AI version of herself, and then “BarBey,” which pays homage to the Oscar-nominated “Barbie” movies.
Both failed, as did her announcement to “run for America’s Beyoncé.”
Finally, Bay attempts a gamble in outer space. With Verizon still moving at full speed, she got serious and ended her ad with, “Okay, I’m ready — drop some new music!”
This interesting spot got the BeyHive excited and everyone started looking for new Beyoncé music.
Mission complete.
