kuala lumpur: Berjaya Corporation Bhd (BCorp) today signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding with Skyworth Group Co Ltd, a Chinese company specialising in smart appliances and technology, and Skywell New Energy Automobile Group Co Ltd, a Chinese manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs).

The MoU marks the start of a partnership between the two aimed at exploring innovation and expansion in key sectors in Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region.

The partnership will see BCorp and Skyworth promoting smart technology in Malaysia, with a focus on promoting smart home technologies, systems and new energy solutions.

Building on each other’s strengths, BCorp looks to leverage its extensive distribution network to expand the reach of Skyworth’s innovative smart home devices and systems across Malaysia and introduce cutting-edge advancements to consumers.

The strategic collaboration also involves the development and implementation of green energy solutions such as solar photovoltaic systems for residential, commercial and industrial use, in line with BCorp’s sustainability goals and contributing to Malaysia’s green future.

In the second partnership, BCorp’s subsidiary, Berjaya Eco-Drive Sdn Bhd (Berjaya ED), will work with Skywell to establish the Chinese company as the leading NEV brand in Malaysia and ASEAN, and drive the growth of NEVs across the region.

This effort may include exploring strategic partnerships to advance key NEV technologies, strengthen the domestic NEV ecosystem and improve Malaysia’s overall NEV environment.

The MOU on strategic cooperation between BCorp and Skyworth was signed by BCorp co-chief executive officer Vivienne Cheng Chi Fan and Skyworth chairman Lin Jin, while the MOU between Berjaya ED and Skywell was signed by Berjaya ED director Datuk Tony Khor and Skywell CEO Zhu Ping.

Wong said he believes that through joint efforts and sincere cooperation between the two sides, they can achieve mutual-benefit and win-win goals, such as cultivating talents and localizing the entire industrial chain, enhancing new productivity and creating groundbreaking projects for China-Malaysia economic and trade cooperation.
