Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed’s new show “Balzak” is facing tough times in Pakistan. The show was released on YouTube last month, but now the video-sharing app is planning to remove the supernatural series for clear violations of its content guidelines. Barzak is set to be removed from YouTube Pakistan on August 9.

The development was confirmed by Zindagi on Instagram, highlighting that the issue will feature a gay love story in the six-episode series. “We at Zindagi and team Balzac are extremely grateful to our viewers across the globe for your unwavering support. Balzac is a show made to bring people together across the world,” Zindagi said.

The statement added, “However, given the current public sentiment in Pakistan, we have taken the decision to voluntarily remove Barzak from YouTube Pakistan, effective August 9, 2024. This decision underscores our commitment to respecting our audience without alienating them.”

“Barzakh” marks Fawad Khan’s full-fledged OTT debut. Helmed by Asim Abbasi of “Churails” and “Cake” fame, the project sees Fawad reteaming with his “Zindagi Gulzar Hai” co-star Sanam Saeed after nearly 12 years.

Set in the Hunza Valley, “Barzak” follows the life of a 76-year-old man who shocks his estranged children by announcing his marriage to the ghost of his first love. Along with Fawad, Barzak also stars Salman Shahid, Khushhar Khan, Faiza Gillani, Eman Suleiman and Sajid Hassan in key roles. The drama series premiered on ZEE5 Global on July 19.
