Baby Girl stars Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson and writer/director Halina Lane sit down with Extra’s Melvin Robert to discuss the erotic thriller.
Nicole said, “It’s a very unique character in a unique movie, and I hope it’s very human…but still interesting and entertaining. I hope that makes you feel something.”
Kidman also opened up about her complex character going through an “existential crisis.”
Nicole said her character asks a series of questions such as: what am i? what do i want? What do you need? What do I want to share and not share? Do I even know?
She later added: “I was so grateful that someone came along and wrote a role that was so complex and so unique and honest. They’re rare, so that was a gift.”
Elaborating on the script, Halina said: Let’s talk about something deeper, and it’s all about self-liberation and accepting your true authentic self, whatever that may be. ”
She said of Romi and Samuel, played by Nicole and Harris, “I think they’re both in crisis when they meet. That’s why they connect…and all the characters explore their dynamics with each other. I’m here,” he said.
Melvin asked Harris, “Who really has the power?” The actor replied, “I have no clue.”
Halina teased, “It changes from scene to scene.”

Nicole and Harris, who met for the first time at the Met Gala, also confessed that they were nervous about meeting for this project.
“It goes by so quickly,” Dickinson said of the nerves. “It went very quickly because… it was easy between us.”
Nicole also praised Halina’s comfort level, saying, “What she was going to ask me to do, what I had to do, was written in one sentence in the script, and I was like, ‘Hmm. I was like, ‘What does that mean?'” ‘We talked about it, and as soon as she described it or told me how she visualized the scene, I felt incredibly valued. I did. ”
Additionally, Harris responded that he wants fans to call them “good girls,” which is what his character says to Nicole in moments of excitement.
“I don’t actually care,” Harris said. “At first I was like, ‘No, I’m not going to do it for free,'” he said, making everyone laugh.
“Baby Girl” will be released on December 25th.
