Don’t worry, Bucks fans.
Tampa Bay will not pick Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson as a first-round pick.
Richardson, one of the most polarizing prospects in this year’s draft among scouts and Bucks fans, had a formal meeting with Tampa Bay at the NFL Scouting Combine this week. After smashing it in an interview with .
After a record Combine performance, Richardson will be drafted well ahead of the Bucks, who have only one quarterback on their roster in Kyle Trask, and will be the 19th pick in the first round.
“I have [met with the Bucs]’ said Richardson. “I just got to know them and talk about my life and talk about the ball and it went really well. It went pretty well.”
The Bucks also met with Kentucky’s Will Levis, who also shined at Indianapolis, and met with a top 15 draft pick. If the Bucks had any chance of dropping a quarterback on them in the first round, it would have been raw Richardson..but after his sports show at Indy, he’s a Rock to be drafted into the top 15. is.
According to Next Gen Stats, Richardson’s combine numbers, including 4.44 in a 40-yard dash at 6 feet, 4 inches and 238 pounds, put him in the 99th percentile of all QBs in combine history.
Anthony Richardson broke the quarterback record #NFL joinreceived a maximum athletic performance score of 99 (official figures pending).

A concern of the scouting community is Richardson’s accuracy. He made only 53% of his passes in his one year as a starter in Florida.
Sitting behind Trask in 2020 and Emory Jones in 2021, Richardson finally got his chance to start last year, throwing 176 of 327 yards for 2,549 yards with 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Completed the path. Richardson also averaged 6.3 yards per carry during his junior season, running for 654 yards and nine touchdowns.
“[Some say] I’m a project, so I think the team knows there’s room for me to do,” Richardson said. “They see a spark in me, and I see it too. I know I was ready, and I know I’m ready.”
Although he’s been labeled a project, it’s fair to point out that Richardson didn’t get much proper coaching while Dan Mullen was in Florida. And very young, and with his strong arms, NFL-sized physique, and athleticism, he’s got some great strengths. Proper coaching at the next level allowed Richardson to improve his accuracy, but he was a bit erratic on some of his on-field throws at the Combine.
“A lot of people call me immature because I’m only 20, but I had to grow up fast,” Richardson said. “My mother worked two or three times a year, so she had to raise my younger brother. is why I am here – to tell my story and let people know who I am.
“I’m so excited because I feel like I’m growing myself and I’m just enjoying the process. I’ve seen another movie, I’ve seen Joe Burrow, I’ve seen Justin Herbert, and I’ve been watching coaches for the last year. I watched Josh Allen with him, and I feel like I can do what those guys can do, they’re great on the team, so I’m on my team, I’m on my system. , ready to become great people like them.
Anthony Richardson could be a Bucks rival
Where will Anthony Richardson go after his incredible performance at the Combine?
The Pro Football Network sent Richardson to Houston in first place overall. After the combine performance, trade one spot to get him. The Colts, the No. 4 pick, are another team in need of a quarterback. Also, the 5th overall pick, the Seahawks may be interested in drafting Richardson and letting him sit and grow behind Jenno Smith for a year.
How committed are the Lions, the sixth overall pick, to Jared Goff? CBS Sports says Richardson goes to Las Vegas in 7th place In that new post-merge mock draft.
Don’t be surprised if one of Tampa Bay’s division rivals, either No. 8 pick Atlanta or No. 9 Carolina, drafts Richardson. The Falcons are slated to start last year’s third-round pick Desmond on his lidar, but Richardson’s value as a runner would suit Arthur Smith’s first run in his offense.
The Panthers also need a quarterback. Sam Darnold is set to become a free agent and he may not come back. Matt Corral, last year’s Day 3 draft pick, missed his rookie season with an injury.
Both the Falcons and Panthers have had success at dual-threat quarterbacks in the past. Michael Vick swept Atlanta from his 2001 through his 2008, during which he won three Pro Bowls. Cam Newton played for Carolina from 2011 to 2019, where he won three Pro Bowls, and in 2015, he won the NFL MVP and led the Panthers to a Super Bowl.
Is Anthony Richardson the next Cam Newton?
Anthony Richardson grew up admiring Newton from an early age and later became a fan of Lamar Jackson.
“For me, it was always Cam Newton,” said Richardson. “But when I got into high school and saw how dynamic Lamar was, I tried to incorporate the two into my life. I called myself ‘Kam Jackson’ when she was in 11th grade.” I started calling
Prior to the Combine, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah had the Lions select Richardson with the 18th pick. This was one place before the Bucks draft at No. 19. His raw athleticism and desire to be great put him out of reach in Tampa Bay.
“I want to be a legend. I want to be like Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady,” Richardson said. “I want to be one of the greats. I will work hard and be willing to get to that point, so I will be one of the greats. I feel like I will.”
Anthony Richardson raves about Kyle Trask
Instead of getting a chance to draft Anthony Richardson, the Bucks have been buried behind Tom Brady and veteran quarterback Blaine Gabbert since becoming a Tampa Bay second-round pick in 2021. We have to settle for Trask’s upbringing. Suggested about Trask at the Combine and that the Bucks are on good terms with his former teammates.
“Kyle is a legend” Richardson said. “He’s a Florida legend. Just sitting behind him and watching him, he taught me the importance of waiting my turn and the importance of the grind. That guy, He knew everything about attacks: he knew blocking schemes, receiver routes, and sets.
“At one point, he called the play himself. He’s a great guy mentally and has beautiful arms, so the Bucks can definitely count on him to do that again. I try to implement it within myself. He’s a great guy and they’ll get it.”
Even if Richardson somehow slips down to No. 19 for the Bucks, the team seems intent on seeing what Trask can do this year after spending the last two seasons developing him.
“We are very excited about Kyle,” Bucks general manager Jason Licht said. I am very satisfied with it. [We’re] Excited – I’ve used that word already, but I really am – for the chance he has with offseason starters, training camp starters, preseason starters.
“He was a successful quarterback in the SEC. We didn’t take him to the second round. We don’t know what he’s going to do yet, but I’m sure he’s going to be very good.”
