Anthony Mackey is cooking on his new animated adventure, “Sneak.”
Mona Kosar Abdi from “Extra” spoke with Anthony. He said his first experience with animation was “very fun.”
He said, “The idea of working with Martin Lawrence was like being able to knock Martin Lawrence, Lawrence Fishburne and Keith David out in one movie.
Rapper Roddy Rich is also part of the star-studded cast, with Anthony saying, “I’ve put it on a deal that I can meet Roddy Rich and have 16 bars with a new Roddy Rich song.”
Mackie also loved the brotherhood of his character, Ty and his sister, Maxine.
“My sisters mean the world to me, and seeing Maxine, seeing their relationship with Ty reminds me of a lot of my sisters… When I finish this, I call them to talk to them. A cheese sandwich and you are the worst chef on the planet and punish me whenever Mom wasn’t there, but you’re a dope person.”
Anthony and Martin acted together on Zoom, but never worked together in the studio.
He said, “I was working, he was working, so we were on the opposite shore, so we zoomed in on it. I didn’t enlarge it – it was an amazing thing, and watching him get to work was a huge learning experience, as I was able to sit there every day and cut it up.”
Anthony is preparing to become a part of “Avengers: Doomsday” and he shares an interesting plan to bring Martin Lawrence to the MCU!
He said, “If there’s a party scene in ‘Doomsday’, I’m literally going to dress him up as a character from ‘house party’ and make him DJ into the party.
Anthony’s film Captain America: Brave New World is currently streaming, and he shares that he is “excited to see it again with the kids.”
Mackie said, “I feel it’s a very good movie and I’m very proud. Sam Wilson is a dynamic and amazing character along with Joaquin Torres, and the two are together… I couldn’t be more proud of it, and I couldn’t see the little bit people watched the film again and especially missed in the “Doysday” setup.”
Mona also chatted with Martin, who called Anthony “realistic talent” in “real cool”.
“It was a joy to work with him. I had to do something on Zoom, and it was a lot of fun,” Martin said.
Lawrence also said he was “certainly a sneaker head,” reminiscing the first pair he’d ever owned.
“I don’t know if I remember the deck or not,” he said. “It was these little flat sneakers, and I got a pair of white and every time they got dirty, I’d get a polish of white shoes and polish them. All I knew they had been polished was when it rained, white would just come out of the shoes.”
He added, “But my favorite sneakers are Michael Jordan, Jordan.”
Lawrence also responded to marking 30 years since the first “Bad Boys,” where he said he was a “baby” for him and Will Smith.
He said, “It was so much fun doing it. It was tough. We were working with crazy scientist Michael Bay. We had to learn a lot on the spot… We then got four successful films.”
When asked if he thought he would tie him together for decades, Martin said, “I didn’t know. I was just living in the moment.”
“Sneaks” will be on April 18th.
